• Top Five: French Fries

11176230_1394602977530109_725990952_nThis is a list of my personal top five favorite places in New York City to get French Fries.  French Fries are one of my absolute favorite foods and I could probably eat them every day for every meal.  There are so many different varieties of French Fries that it would be impossible to get sick of them.  French Fries can be prepared a number of varying ways between cut, frying technique, seasoning, and of course dipping sauce.  As I continue on my adventures, I may discover a new location with fantastic French Fries, in which case I will be updating this list.  Also, if anyone has any suggested places to get French Fries in New York City, please feel free to share in the comments!  As a lover of French Fries I am always open to trying something new.

    5. Nathan’s Famous

The French Fries at Nathan’s are a classic crinkle cut.  They are thick and wide allowing for a lot of potato in one bite.  The best are the super crispy ones!  I always go for the plain French Fries, but they do have some “dressed up” varieties as well.  Just don’t be fooled by your local mall food court or grocery store’s freezer aisle.  If you want to have awesome French Fries, you have to go to Nathan’s on Coney Island.

    4. STK

I have been lucky enough to eat at STK in Los Angeles and New York City, both midtown and downtown locations.  One thing that I will order, no matter the location are the Parmesan Truffle Fries.  These French Fries look like Jenga blocks and they’re served in the same style as the game.  Although, I don’t actually recommend playing with the Parmesan Truffle Fries, since they are too delicious to let go to waste.

    3. Home Frite

Have you had the opportunity to walk around Smorgasburg yet?  If not, make sure to plan a trip there soon and don’t forget to stop at the Home Frite vendor while you’re there.  The ultimate “walking around” food, Home Frite serves their French Fries in a large cardboard cone with an attached “condiment cup” for your dipping needs.  The French Fries are basic straight cut, skin on, and extra crispy and with a wide variety of dipping sauces.  You can choose from their expansive menu of French Fries and sauces to get the exact flavor that you want.  For me, I’m an Original with Ketchup girl, but if you are willing to try the Dutch fries with Poblano Fraiche dip, go for it!

    2. Burger Joint

Is there anything better than a char-grilled cheeseburger and shoestring French Fries?  The two New York City locations of Burger Joint are equally delicious and produce amazing French Fries.  These look like your typical fast food French Fries, but there is nothing soggy or greasy about them!

    1. Fred’s

My number one destination for French Fries in New York City has to be Fred’s at Barneys New York.  The Pomme Frites are a meal in themselves.  Thick cut steak fries served in a glass vase at a piping hot temperature, yes please!  Along with the French Fries, Fred’s serves three different dipping sauces, basic ketchup, a garlic mayo, and a Russian dressing mix.  I have been eating Pomme Frites at Fred’s for about 15 years and to this day, I can’t tell you which of these I’d prefer to dip my fries into.  Anywhere else I go straight to the ketchup, but for some reason, I need to dip my fries in each of the three dips when I go to Fred’s.  Seriously, they need to sell that stuff!
