    IMG_3549Today’s Truthful Tuesday: Cereal Killer

You know what they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day!  A lot of people aren’t big on breakfast.  I’d say for the majority of my “growing up” years I couldn’t stand eating anything that early in the morning.  What’s a typical breakfast?  A cup of coffee?  A weird greenish colored juice drink?  I don’t have the patience to cook myself a whole four course meal every morning.  And I certainly did not have the time to eat that when I was going to work every day.  But, I do love to have a bowl (or two) of cereal for breakfast.

Like many other things I do, I tend to get “obsessional” with my breakfast cereal.  I can go for months eating the exact same thing every morning.  Then, all of a sudden, I’ll have a random craving for another cereal, buy a box, and start the process over again.  There is really no rhyme or reason for the timeframe I give myself with a cereal, nor is there any kind of order as to when I switch back and forth.  It’s just like some nerve impulse sends a signal that I need to taste THIS cereal NOW and there’s no turning back.  Well, no turning back for at least a few months.

I’ve been eating Apple Cinnamon Cheerios for a minimum, the last six months.  Before that, I was on a Raisin Bran kick.  Frosted Mini Wheats was another one of my go to cereals.  I really liked the big ones, but those are pretty hard to find.  The cereal before these was Frosted Flakes, because they’re great!…

Generally, this whole cereal thing works really well for me.  The hardest time I have is on vacation when they don’t have “my” cereal.  No, I’m not complaining about going on vacation.  I’m just saying that it’s a slight adjustment to my otherwise rigid breakfast routine when you go somewhere and they don’t have Apple Cinnamon Cheerios.  When I was hooked on Raisin Bran, I didn’t have any problems because that seems to be a staple cold cereal no matter where you go.  For this reason, Raisin Bran has become my back-up cereal.  It’s my “break glass in case of emergency” cereal.  My “do not pass go, do not collect $200” cereal.  Apple Cinnamon Cheerios isn’t the easiest of cereals to find so, when I’m running low I make sure to have Raisin Bran at home just in case.  As a picky eater it’s important to give yourself as many options as possible, especially since there might only be two options.
