Seafood is basically out of the question.  Except for the occasional Lox on a Bagel, I won’t eat you if you live in the water.  I used to eat Tuna fish salad, but it started to give me stomach aches so I’ve been staying away from it.  How much more truth do you want?

One of the more common food allergies, Shellfish, is actually not on my list of forbidden foods.  At least forbidden because it could kill me.  Though, my tastebuds seem to feel otherwise.  If I wanted to, I could eat fish until I was blue in the face!  No thank you.  I prefer to watch fish swim in a tank than stare up at me on a plate.  I’m not sure what exactly has caused this strong dislike for the consumption of sea-creatures.  If I had to guess, it would probably have to do with keeping them as a pet.  I don’t think I could eat something that once lived in my room.  Nor could I eat it’s relatives.  Plus, have you ever walked passed a marina?  I could pass out from the smell.  Why in the world would I want to eat anything that created a smell like that?

Fish and Shellfish seem like such difficult foods to eat. I truly can’t imagine putting the time and work into it.  Granted I don’t know very much since I don’t prepare these meals often, you have to get rid of the fish scales and eyeballs and fins.  That seems quite daunting.  Even if you order your fish filleted, theres still the worry of little prickly skeleton parts hidden beneath the surface.  With shellfish, the first thing I’d do is make sure there isn’t any sand stuck inside the hidden crevasses.  Who’d want to bite down on some grainy Jersey Shore sand.  There are also all these weird gadgets used to open shellfish up.  My life doesn’t need to become any more complicated by additional tools on the table.  You have to make sure not to eat the actual shell and scrape out the meal from these dark obscure places.  Seriously, just hand me a Cheeseburger at this point.

I’d like to use this space to answer some of those burning questions you may have.  No, I have never tried sushi or any of those other sushi-like things.  No, I don’t eat shrimp or clams or calamari.  No, I don’t like Salmon.  Yes, I know Lox is Salmon and eating that is eating fish, but for some reason my brain thinks it’s okay.  Yes, I’ve tasted Salmon before and I don’t like it.  No, I don’t want to try any other fish and I don’t care if it “tastes like chicken” because I don’t like chicken.
