• Nielsen-Massey Any Flavor Cookies

December 4, 2015 is National Cookie Day.  I started my preparation now, because it’s never too early to have cookies!  After a bit of research, I discovered a fantastic cookie recipe that anyone can follow.  If you visit the Nielsen-Massey website, you will find information about the company’s products as well as dozens of recipes.

Nielsen-Massey is best known for their vanilla and other flavors.  Their products are made from high quality ingredients and are used throughout the food industry by culinary professionals and at-home kitchen cooks.  You may find it interesting to learn about how many types of vanilla there are, just as I did, or be curious to know the different uses of a liquid flavor versus a powdered flavor.

To honor National Cookie Day, I started with a basic recipe from www. nielsenmassey.com and added some pizzazz.  The recipe I chose to make is called Nielsen-Massey’s Any Flavor Cookies.  I thought these would be great for my National Cookie Day prep because I could flavor them however I’d like.  The Nielsen-Massey product I have at home is the Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract, so I decided to make vanilla cookies.  About half of the batch I kept plain and the other half I added crushed Oreos to the top.

I’ve put a copy of the recipe below, in addition to the website link provided here.  I hope you enjoy preparing for December 4th as much as I do.  Even though it is still a few weeks away, there are so many different cookie flavors to try, I figured I’d better give myself a head start before National Cookie Day passes by.

    Nielsen-Massey’s Any Flavor Cookies

    8 tablespoons butter
    1 cup sugar
    1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Pure Extract (any flavor)
    1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt

In a bowl, beat butter until soft. Add sugar and mix well. Add the egg, Pure Vanilla and Pure Extracts and mix thoroughly. Add in the flour and salt and mix well. Shape dough into a log, wrap in waxed paper and chill until cold. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Thinly slice the dough with a sharp knife and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.

    Makes 2 ½ dozen cookies.
