• I’m Not So Much Of An A.P.E As Much As An Alien.

11093056_449200898568076_1665730642_nIt all started Saturday night.  After such a gorgeous day outside, I decide to sleep with my window cracked open.  That’s how I got attacked.  Okay, so I guess I’m being slightly dramatic.  I got 3 mosquito bites!  Figuring I learned my lesson, Sunday night the window was closed (good thing because it was pouring rain on Monday).  I woke up, looked in the mirror and thought, “are you fucking kidding me?”  I got 3 more mosquito bites!  REALLY?!  Just wait until I tell you the best part…  Of these 6 mosquito bites, 5 of them were on my face.  I looked like I was a creature from another planet.  Aside from the whole itchiness factor, I just looked super ridiculous.  Needless to say, I spent much of Monday hibernating from other human beings and the horrible rain was an easy excuse.  Well, Tuesday rolls around and I’m not so lucky.  I still look like a troll and it’s a beautiful day.  Plus I have things to do!  I have a “lightbulb” moment and realize I can go over to Sephora and buy concealer with my 15% off VIB Rouge discount.  After some self-talk and positive thinking, I forced myself to leave my apartment and head down towards The Meatpacking District for a quick make-up and not so quick food adventure.  Once my face is fixed, I go into Chelsea Market to check out the inventory.  Normally, I try to avoid Chelsea Market, because it can get so busy and crowded that it takes away from the whole experience.  However; on a Tuesday afternoon, I thought I’d take my chances.  I was in luck!  I got to walk at my own pace and look at everything I wanted without a million people bumping into me.  It was great!  While checking out the retail, I managed to keep my wallet tucked inside my bag and figured it was time for a snack.  Decisions, Decisions.  I end up at Doughnuttery with 3 cinnamon-sugar doughnuts, 3 powdered sugar doughnuts, dark chocolate dipping sauce, and a lemonade.  IT WAS DELICIOUS!

I also make a stop at Eleni’s and pick up 2 cupcakes and a cookie.  Thinking that the combination of these treats would most likely advance the rate of my developing diabetes, I made a stop on my walk home at Westville Chelsea for a healthy dinner.  The market plate is my usual go to and I this time I got sautéed broccoli with garlic, brussel sprouts with honey dijon, mashed sweet potatoes, and a tomato, basil, mozzarella, salad.  I continued on my way home, feeling very happy with my food choices for the day that I almost forgot about how today’s journey started.  Don’t worry though, a quick look in the mirror reminds me that for the next few days I’m not so much of an A.P.E as I am an alien.
